A BIG THANK YOU - read all about it...
An up-date from Eddie Haworth (AKA Clown Eckie & Founder of Gift of Happiness Foundation)
This about me-me-me because I'm feeling a bit lost right now and wish to share my situation with all who read this up-date...
I was hurriedly evacuated from my home in Pathom Thani, 42 kilometers north of Bangkok last Friday and left with only a laptop that was broken during the packing and a very few clothes.

I did manage to rescue a lot of the tools of my trade...Two clown costumes and most props that I use in my regular shows. - I was also happy to be able to take my neighbors (a family of three) with me in my high pick-up truck. (My famous Clown TukTuk is still safe and sound, on display at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Bangkok)...
When we left our gated village and joined the road leading up-to the high level expressway. My truck almost drowned at one point when we passed through a dip in the road which brought the water half way up the doors! That was more than a bit frightening!
My home is now under who knows how many meters of flood water and I know I have lost most of the white goods in my kitchen, my washing machine and a number of irreplaceable clown costumes, as well as my tool room which is also on the same lower level of the house.
I have already lost several bookings for birthday parties and school shows as people have moved out of the city and schools are all closed for the duration of this disaster...But I am still happy to be performing almost every day at the Dust Thani and still able to take bookings for those who are still in town and need cheering-up?
Shows for flood victims...
I am arranging some shows for as many as possible of the children who are camping out in the shelters for flood victims in Bangkok. I have managed to arrange a couple of buses to bring the children to the Dust Thani ball room where they can enjoy my shows and all the other activities that the hotel has laid-on for all the children and parents who are stranded in town.
GOOD NEWS & THANK YOU to DUSIT THANI HOTEL BANGKOK!
Since I arrived in central Bangkok, I have had the best response that I could ever hope for from the acting GM (Alex Willats) and many of the other staff at the Dusit Thani Hotel where I perform the Sunday Brunch family shows every week.
They immediately offered me a room at the hotel and since that first few day of my being a flood refugee, they have offered me security for the duration of this catastrophic situation.
I sincerely thank Alex and the Dusit Thani for their very kind help and I urge all of you to make sure you bring your children to the hotel while they are off school. I am offering regular performances at the hotel which also offers many other activities for the children, including a bouncy castle in the well equipped small ballroom...And all at a very low price to help all those bored children get through the next few weeks. We are also planning some shows for many of the refugee children who living in the shelters, but it's difficult pin-point the days that we can do this as the refugees may be moved anytime soon?
For information about the children's activity programs please call 02.2009000 or contact me here; [email protected]
Thanks also to many others...
There are also many other people in Bangkok who have been very supportive and helped me to keep smiling and feeling much loved by so many - I thank you all for giving me something to hold onto in my hour of need! I also send you my very best wishes and hope that you don't end-up loosing as much as I have...And of course all those poor people who've lost everything!
As soon as I am able to start re-building my life and home. I will be hammering away at you all to help our registered charity by donating goods and money to by essential household equipment for the thousands of people that we have been helping for a long time up in Ayutthaya and Anthong provinces.
If you want to donate now please visit our website below. Remember, I personally guarantee that every penny you send will go to the people who most need it (That doesn't include me or any of our volunteers!).
